Machine Operator- ICNC

 

Machine Operator (32 Hour Work Week) - Chicago, IL

Machine Operator is needed for a sheet metal fabricator located at Oakley and Grand Ave in Chicago, IL 60612. The right candidate will manufacture lighting frames, sconces and brackets and miscellaneous other lighting products. 

Must have:
· High School diploma or GED 
· Good communication skills and comfortable asking questions 
· Good work ethic 
· Ability to follow instruction 
· Previous manufacturing experience is a plus 
· Caliper experience a plus 
· Positive attitude and aptitude to learn essential duties required 

Nice to know and have:
· Reading, writing and basic math skills are needed for this job. 
· Must be mechanically inclined and be able to make minor adjustments to machines. Must be able to correctly read a ruler. 
· Must be able to problem-solve to make sure that minor adjustments made to machinery are correct. 
· Self-managing with organization and time management skills 
· Fluency in the English language (written & spoken) 

The right person will be trained on a variety of machines:
· Operates fabrication machinery and tools safely including any or all of the following: bending machines / press brake, laser cutting machine, drill press, manual mill, hardware insertion machines, deburring tools, spot welder, and orbital grinder / sander, etc. 

Task that you will do in the machine operation position:
· Monitors machine operations and inspect parts per drawing/specifications; makes adjustments as needed 
· Performs calculations and selects tools and/or dies for a wide variety of operations in the proper step or bend order 
· Performs deburring and/or grinding operations, radius edges and/or surface defects from parts using hand & pneumatic tools 
· Inspects parts to ensure conformance to quality specifications, using gauges, calipers and other measuring tools as required. Follow procedures as needed to address non-conformities. 
· Performs preventative maintenance on machinery, tooling, and other equipment 
· Ability to learn equipment and processes for fabrication of parts and produce parts in accordance to production plans, drawings, specification, verbal instructions, and production standards 
· Perform accurate math calculations when taking measurements and setting up or programming machinery and equipment 
· Able to stand for long periods in a warm work environment 
· Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. 

Hourly rate:
$13.50-$15.00 and hour based on experience. Health insurance after 60 days.

Hours of work:
7:30 AM to 3:30PM, Monday through Thursday.
