Director of Accounting- Mujeres Latinas en Accion

SALARY RANGE:     $67,000 - $75,000/ year (plus benefits)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Supervises assigned staff

·         Oversees Accounts Receivable/Payable

·         Oversees the payroll process including entry of the appropriate journal entries in the organization’s computer system.

·         Working closely with the Development Department, including close collaboration with the Government Grants Manager, to prepare proposals, reports, audits, and submitting budget revisions.  

·         Prepares allocation tables for indirect expenses and revenues items as needed.

·         Monitor bank accounts daily and reconcile to month end bank statement

·         Prepares monthly reports on grants and contracts.

·         Prepares monthly financial statements for organization.

·         Prepares monthly reports of budget activity regarding support and expenditures and unfunded balances and a statement of cash flow.

·         Prepares annual budget and contract budgets.

·         Prepares budget revisions as needed and budget variance schedules per fund.

·         Ensures contract compliance with regard to grants and contracts.

·         Develops and maintains systems and procedures for organization’s financial operations, exercising independent judgment in conformity with organization policies and goals.

·         Work with department directors to discuss budgets and identify needs

·         Prepares reports for and participates in the monthly finance committee and Board meetings.

·         Interacts directly with Finance Committee and Board of Trustees.

·         Analyzes the total operation of the organization to determine financial requirements and advises the CEO.

·         Represents the organization on fiscal and accounting matters with outside parties, and interfaces with organization’s auditors.

·         Work with the President/CEO and other directors to plan resources for organization’s strategic plan and vision.

·         Perform other duties as requested by President/CEO.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·         The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university

·         At least five years of experience in finance and bookkeeping.

·         One-to-two years in not-for-profit accounting and/or government grants fiscal management/nonprofit accounting required.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Excel, Word and Fund E-Z accounting systems.

Program Associate- CORE

 CORE is a humanitarian non-profit organization seeking a Program Associate to join its team to assist with the CORE COVID-19 Vaccine Response Team. Qualified applicants should be able to start immediately.

Responsibilities

    • Assist in field-based humanitarian response activities that support local vaccine clinics.

Qualifications for Infant/Toddler & Pre-K Child Development Teachers: BA preferred will consider 60 Semester Hours with a minimum of 6 Hours in elementary school education.

Teachers with 1 year (1550 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school or kindergarten, or licensed daycare center and 30 hours (or 45 quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university with 6 semester hours (or 9 quarter hours) related to school-age child care, child development, from birth to age 6, will also be considered.

  Major Responsibilities:

Communications

  • Create engaging online content to reach community members and other stakeholders, inspire measurable action, and increase public awareness about HANA Center.

  • Draft organizational statements, press releases, media advisories, and e-newsletters.

  • Maintain a visually appealing and user-friendly website that ensures community members can easily access accurate, up-to-date information.

  • Develop and maintain up-to-date materials to support programs and organizing and advocacy campaigns (e.g. social media toolkits, fact sheets, fliers, etc.).

  • Generate ideas and collaborate with HANA programs and staff to uplift community member stories, volunteer activities and achievements, and organizational highlights.

Community Engagement Specialist Intern- Hana Center

 Major Responsibilities:

The Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for 1) outreach regarding HANA Center programs, 2) establishing new employer relationships, 3) cultivate employer partnerships to develop enriching, high-quality employment opportunities for HANA Center Workforce Empowerment participants, and 4) effectively support community members with identifying employment opportunities and retaining employment.

  • Networks and build relationships with new and existing employers;

  • Continuously advocates for our community members by building relationships with companies that have high-quality working environments that meet our community members’ needs;

General Summary: The Employment Case Manager will 1) outreach and assesses adult job-seeker for work readiness, skills, strengths, aptitudes and any potential limitations/barriers to employment. 2) Enroll participants in City of Chicago Workforce supported program. 3) Develops employment and vocational plans with goals and timelines that will help participants move their job search forward. 4) Support participants to become work-ready by identifying barriers and offering resources/linkages to other ancillary support services to mitigate barriers. 5) Assists with the creation of professional job search tools including resumes, cover letters, portfolios, etc.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Outreach and Recruitment

  • Identify community events and organizations, recruit participants;

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with program participants, employers, community partners and other stakeholders;

  • Effectively promote HANA Center, it’s programs, campaigns, and mission at community meetings and events;

  • Conduct outreach efforts to re-engage participants who are not actively participating;

 

Case Management

  • Develop and update program Individual Employment Plan (IEP) with the participant and monitor ongoing progress toward goal(s) completion;

  • Provide case management services such as counseling, linkage and referrals to community program as applicable to assist participants to build capacity and empower them toward job attainment;

  • Provide direction and guidance to address personal, social, educational and vocational issues;

  • Advocate between community providers, agencies, employers and service recipients;

  • Identify job ready participants and refer them to the Workforce Manager for paid work experience or employment opportunities;

  • Conduct follow-up with exited participants up to 3 months after exit from the program;

Training

  • Provide job readiness training, life skills training, career navigation and basic skills development including soft skills to individuals and groups;

Administrative

  • Maintain accurate and up to date documentation of participant activities in participant’s files and with City of Chicago ECM system;

Transition Specialist Intern- Hana Center

Summary: The Transition Specialist will be responsible for preparing community members technological and social-emotional readiness to commit to joining HANA Center’s Education & Workforce Empowerment program and subsequently into employment or post-secondary education by 1) educating students on labor market information and career pathways 2) identifying barriers and developing transition plans to enroll students in English, workforce and digital literacy programs that align with their career goals and providing case management to ensure linkage and retention and 3) support participants by offering resources/linkages to other ancillary support services to mitigate barriers.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Goal Development/Case Management

  • Act as initial contact and assess student needs by conducting screenings to connect all students that demonstrate interest in the Education & Workforce Empowerment programs, working closely with the Education Coordinator and the Workforce Manager to ensure enrollment.

  • Develop and update Individual Education Plans (IEP) with the participant and monitor ongoing progress toward goal(s) completion; supporting them to navigate registration, testing, set and progressively achieve educational goals, and integrate seamlessly with programs and opportunities across and outside of HANA Center.

  • Provide case management services such as resource development, linkage and referrals to community programs as applicable to reduce barriers to retention in programs that support students’ goal attainment.

  • Develop and manage alumni groups, providing group facilitation for students to build networks that support their ability to obtain employment.

Training

  • Research and understand labor market trends and the intersection of immigrant justice, immigration policies, and local economic development; Educate students.

  • Educate and inform students in all HANA Center Education & Workforce Empowerment programs on opportunities that will lead to building individual, familial, and community wealth;

  • Train students on use of technology that eliminate barriers to retention in online programs and/or enrollment in continuing education or obtaining jobs.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

We’re seeking a certified nursing assistant (CNA) to join our team at the on-site health center within The Mather, our Life Plan Community that provides assisted living, memory support, and Medicare-certified skilled nursing.
