Family Teacher Intern- Mooseheart Child City & School

 

The Family Teacher Intern will provide youth with a safe and secure environment in which to grow and learn; teach youth social skills, self-help skills, academic skills, and independent living skills; foster the moral and spiritual development of youth; administer the day-to-day operations of a large family residence; supervise and work with other professional Family Teachers in carrying out responsibilities; and maintain confidentiality of youth and program information.

 

Specific Duties:

 

Teaches and Counsels Youth

 

Observes and defines ongoing behaviors of youth.  Identifies what skills are present or lacking.  Prioritizes target behaviors for each youth in order to emphasize maximum skill development.

 

Compliments and encourages youth on doing something well in order to build self-confidence and respect.

 

Describes appropriate skills or behaviors to youth.  Provides rationales why a youth should or  should not do certain things.

 

Practices appropriate skills to youth in order to increase learning and maintenance.  Role plays with youth pertinent skills until he or she is comfortable using them.

 

Provides feedback to youth to ensure skills development.

 

Implements consequences for appropriate or inappropriate behaviors.  Rewards youth with praise and positive points for practicing and displaying appropriate behavior.

       

Serves as role model for youth by exhibiting skills taught in program.

 

Teaches Youth Specific Skills.  Teaches youth appropriate social skills such as following instructions, giving and accepting feedback, greeting and conversational skills, helping others, and proper manners.  Teaches youth appropriate social conduct in public so that they are able to generalize their behavior to other settings and are successful in life.

 

Teaches youth self-care habits such as maintenance, personal hygiene, cooking, home safety, laundry and dress.

 

Teaches youth money management skills such as opening and using a checking account, budgeting, and savings.

 

Teaches youth employment skills such as job searches, setting up interviews and appointments, interviewing, adhering to work and attendance rules.  Serves as a liaison between the youth and his or her employer.  Facilitates career decision making.

 

Teaches youth independent living skills such as comparative shopping, and use of public   transportation.

 

Monitors Academic Development.  Discusses school performance with youth including grades, credits earned, performance ratings and academic goals.

 

Monitors home study time.  Assists youth with school assignments.  Teaches and reinforces good  study habits.  Checks homework assignments for thoroughness and quality of work.

 

Provides youth rationales for performing well in school and completing his or her secondary education.

Physical Characteristics:

 

See well enough to read reports, point cards, monitor youth, drive a vehicle, and observe discrete behaviors.

 

Hear well enough to converse on telephone and hear comments mumbled under breath.

 

Speak well enough to teach skills, give feedback, discuss strategies, and converse on telephone.

 

Body movement or mobility to track behaviors of youth moving around the house.

 

Climb flights of stairs and get into van.

 

Dexterity to write, cook, and help with models and games.

 

Strength to carry groceries, suitcases, and move furniture.

 

Stamina to work eighteen-hour shifts and drive for up to four hours.

 

Tolerance to work under adverse conditions such as constant interruptions, inappropriate behaviors, and dealing with potential verbal and physical threats from youth.

 

 

Candidates are required to:

 

1.    Pass a medical examination, including drug screen.

 

2.    A thorough background reference verification procedure in order to determine one’s

        fitness to satisfactorily and  safely care for youth.  The background check also

        includes validating driver’s license and evaluating an individual’s driving record, (e.g.,  DUI   

       (Driving Under the Influence),  reckless driving, moving violations and at fault accidents.

The Early Childhood ERSEA Specialist - afternoons/evenings- Children's Home & Aid- Dekalb, IL

The Early Childhood ERSEA Specialist monitors enrollment, recruitment, selection, eligibility and attendance (ERSEA) services for our early childhood programs in Kendall, Kane, Boone, Grundy, and DeKalb Counties. As the ERSEA Specialist, you will determine eligibility and provide training, monitoring, and technical assistance to staff and parents on regulations and procedures for Head Start, Early Head Start, Preschool for All, Prevention Initiative and child care subsidies. The ERSEA Specialist reports to the ERSEA Program Manager.

This position requires energy, attention to detail, a desire to work as part of a collaborative team, planning and analytical skills, and a desire for continuous improvement. It is about comprehensive, quality services for families and embracing the role of our Early Childhood centers as a community partner. The ERSEA Specialist will visit sites in Kendall, Kane, Boone, Grundy, and DeKalb Counties, and will have office space available at our DeKalb site, but will work from a home/remote location between site visits.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain a monitoring system and process for determining the eligibility of children at assigned early childhood education sites; review enrollment applications and process to ensure accuracy of forms and timeliness of intake.
  • Ensure that recruitment efforts reach families that are most in need of services.
  • Work collaboratively with other Family Support staff to coordinate recruitment efforts that target children with disabilities.
  • Monitor daily attendance; maintain waitlist and general program inbox.
  • Assist with the community assessment process, including helping with planning of program design, recruitment efforts and enrollment guidelines.
  • Train parents, staff and community partners in topics related to child care, program enrollment and eligibility­­­­­­­­­.
  • Work with program leadership to ensure that operations meet agency, federal, state and local requirements, including licensing, Head Start, accreditation, contractual and other standards.
  • Maintain and monitor program data collection and evaluation system to ensure that quality standards are met and that services continue to improve.
  • Participate in community outreach events and attend public meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Family & Child Studies, or a closely related field required.
  • At least one year direct ERSEA experience preferred.
  • ERSEA Certification, or ability to become certified within 12 months, required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in documentation, data-entry, and record keeping.
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance and a reliable vehicle required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Position Summary

Primary responsibilities

Check bank and trade references with customers and suppliers

Qualifications

Trading Admin or Trading related work experience is a plus

Inventory management experience is a plus

Fluent / Business level in English

Japanese language/culture understanding skill is a plus

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

Logistics experience is a plus (import/export)

ERP system experience is a plus (We are using GP)

IMPORT OPERATION

• Handles orders from Import.

• Receives and reviews shipping documents for conformity to tariff and customs 

regulations.

• Sends the shipping pre-notifications to customers prior to shipments’ arrival.

• Issues billing for triangle shipments and domestic transportation and mails them out.

• Issues arrival notice to broker team.

• Communicating with overseas agent.

• E-mails necessary shipping information to the customers, Japan and other parties after 

completing export documentation.

• Creates debit invoices for customers for provided invoices; Issues invoices to 

customers.

• Assembles imports brokerage and breakbulk clearance documents for debit invoicing, 

customs and import files.

• Breaks down document pouches and consolidation shipments as needed; Prepares 

manifests as needed.

• Processes T.E. entries, prints delivery orders, prints authority to make entry letters, etc.

• Prepares calculations and reports as needed; Updates and maintains specified
