Major Responsibilities:
Communications
Create engaging online content to reach community members and other stakeholders, inspire measurable action, and increase public awareness about HANA Center.
Draft organizational statements, press releases, media advisories, and e-newsletters.
Maintain a visually appealing and user-friendly website that ensures community members can easily access accurate, up-to-date information.
Develop and maintain up-to-date materials to support programs and organizing and advocacy campaigns (e.g. social media toolkits, fact sheets, fliers, etc.).
Generate ideas and collaborate with HANA programs and staff to uplift community member stories, volunteer activities and achievements, and organizational highlights.
Maintain an organizational content calendar and ensure timely and effective coordination of social media, e-blasts,and other communications.
Track and analyze online engagement, and utilize engagement data to enhance and grow HANA Center’s online audience.
Maintain a current media (English, Korean, and Spanish) contact list, cultivate relationships with media contacts, and conduct outreach to secure earned media opportunities.
Explore and pursue, as appropriate, opportunities for paid media.
Attend, participate, and support with media and social media coverage in community meetings and other activities as needed.
Fulfill other duties as assigned.
Development
Assist with researching funding opportunities and drafting grant proposals and reports for general operating and program support.
Assist with planning and execution of fundraising events, including HANA Center’s annual gala.
Provide donor acknowledgements and support donor outreach.
Qualifications:
Commitment to immigrant rights and social, economic, and racial justice.
A belief in communities’ ability to support each other, organize, and achieve desired goals together.
Experience working on Korean American, Asian American, immigrant community issues, and/or social, economic, and racial justice issues preferred.
Minimum of 1 year prior communications work experience.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Skilled in strategically utilizing social media tools including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok, and Linkedin.
Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, accuracy, and proven track record of meeting deadlines.
Ability to take initiative, think creatively and independently, and problem solve with a commitment to continued learning.
Prior engagement and familiarity with nonprofit organizations preferred.
Familiarity with design tools such as Canva, Squarespace, and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
Familiarity with using CRM communication tools is a plus.
Familiarity with photo and/or video editing is a plus.
Proficiency in Korean and/or Spanish language is a plus.
Reports To: Development and Communications Manager
Compensation: This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $37,000 - $39.000. HANA Center offers a full benefits package that includes paid time off, health, dental, vision, long-term disability, life, and 401k.
