Laborer (Landscape) - Chicago, IL
BR Design is seeking an Experienced Hardscape and Labor Landscape Crew Member.
We are a well-established, small-crew boutique landscape design and installation business specializing in medium to large residential and commercial design & installs in or close to the city. We are known for our artful installation techniques and have amassed truly great clients who expect we meet their (and our) high standards.
Seeking candidates who will happily work outside, who have landscape hardscape and labor experience, and want to learn, to assist in the translation of our designs into beautiful unique gardens that wow. This job is both labor-intensive and detail-oriented. Successful candidates will have a strong back, physical stamina / endurance and a commitment to listening to and following verbal, visual, and written instruction.
You will apply the BRL Design aesthetic to each installation and will represent BRL Design.

Job Type:
Part-time/Seasonal, typically 30 – 40 hrs / week, M-F, some weekends at peak times and/or due to weather.
Hourly Rate:
$19-$21 based upon your experience and level of skill.
Location:
Yard is located at Fulton and Oakley, jobs are in the city and suburbs

Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be able to lift at least 60lbs and work on your feet.
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License, competent driving standard size trucks.
- Must be able to communicate in English. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus but not necessary.
- Professional, presentable and courteous to clients and co-workers.
Responsibilities:
- Installation of material according to design specifications.
- Tree and shrub planting, pruning, monitoring and maintenance.
- Installation and maintenance of annual and perennial beds and planters.
- Installation of drainage systems
- Installation of fabric, sod, decorative rock, mulch, etc.
- Operate light and heavy equipment, power tools and hand tools.
- Keep work vehicles and equipment clean and organized.
- Perform daily equipment safety checks and routine maintenance as needed.
- Perform such other activities that may be temporarily or permanently assigned.
- Creative with an eye for design.
- Ready to put your can-do attitude to good use.
- Willing to get plenty dirty.
- Flexible with your time availability (We often work long hours due to heavy workloads in a seasonal business).
- Must have and maintain a working phone and email account.
- Capable of receiving constructive criticism to learn and improve.
- A strong work ethic and the desire for pride in your hard work (essential).
