Major Responsibilities:
The Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for 1) outreach regarding HANA Center programs, 2) establishing new employer relationships, 3) cultivate employer partnerships to develop enriching, high-quality employment opportunities for HANA Center Workforce Empowerment participants, and 4) effectively support community members with identifying employment opportunities and retaining employment.
Networks and build relationships with new and existing employers;
Communicate with employers regarding placements and do follow up surveys and report back to manager for any programmatic or coaching changes necessary based on employer feedback;
Continuously advocates for our community members by building relationships with companies that have high-quality working environments that meet our community members’ needs;
Document, consistently and accurately, in real time, all participant and employer contact, activities and outcomes;
Regularly schedules introductory and face-to-face meetings with employers;
Coordinate employer engagement and registration for our annual Job Fairs and hiring events;
Develops specific job opportunities that matches participants with employment opportunities based on their skills, work experience, related training, hobbies and interests;
Outreach to current and potential job seekers by maintaining Workforce Empowerment Facebook, office job board, Indeed, Constant Contact and other databases;
Effectively promote HANA Center, it’s programs, campaigns, and mission at community meetings and events;
Attend networking events with the Workforce Empowerment Manager;
Research trends in employment sectors and offer outreach suggestions;
Advocate for our community by researching & educating employers on HR best practices, hiring trends, tax benefits, etc. that especially support our communities;
Conduct and/or assist other staff with presentations for program participants and staff;
Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions.
Key Qualification:
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Strong interest in cultivating mutually beneficial partnerships;
Interest in learning about the impacts of market trends on public sector;
Language skills: bilingual Spanish/English or Korean/English preferred;
Basic coaching skills in order to assist program participants with career development, professional goals and long-term workplace success strategies;
Ability to effectively network with other professionals and influence them to change position and/or to and advocate for the hiring of individuals with limited English proficiency or work experience;
Positive energy and self-starter;
Ability to bring and sustain considerable stamina and vigor to all aspects of the work;
Understanding of multiculturalism and ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds;
High level of proficiency in computer skills;
Strong data analysis skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects at once.
Availability: Approximately 10-15 hours a week.
