Master Teacher- Christopher House

Master Pre-K Teacher 3-5

Christopher House (CH) is searching for Master Teachers looking to grow professionally in the field of Early Childhood Development.  Candidates must possess a specialized interest and passion for working with Infants, Toddlers, and Two-year old’s.

Christopher House partners with parents to provide a continuum of education for students from birth through high school, as well as immersive family supports that help parents create stable, self-sufficient families.  We operate accredited early learning, elementary, and out of school time programs grounded in research-based curricula and high-quality instruction.  

Position Objectives:
·         Determine the needs and provide for the development of children ages 3-5 
·         Work to create a safe environment for children and act as a role model for teaching staff
·         Implement and maintain all components regarding children ages 3-5, based on HS, State Pre-K, Child Care and state and local requirements
Responsibilities:
·         Provide technical assistance, advisement, support and role modeling to members of the Preschool and Pre-K (3-5) teaching staff in curriculum and development issues
·         Coordinate monthly teacher meetings to ensure on-going cooperation among staff and to ensure that individual teachers are working towards a unified approach to preschooler’s (3-5) development; maintain a strong classroom presence
·         Ensure program is in compliance with all curriculum related to funding and licensing requirements pertaining to HS, State Pre-K and Child Care contractual mandates as it relates to child assessment 
·         Review lesson plans on a weekly basis, make any recommendations for needed changes and follow through on implementation of lesson plans
·         Prepare Pre-K reports for the Site Director, Associate Director of ECDS and the state Pre-K Office
·         Assist Program Director, ECDS and Site Director in the ongoing process of assuring the highest quality programming and best Practices as well as NAEYC Accreditation and re-accreditation processes occurs at each appropriate site
·         Meet with the teaching staff and the Manager of Health and Disabilities to ensure compliance to and an understanding of appropriate health and nutrition practices. 
·         Coordinate portfolio assessments of all children in a timely manner and conduct classroom observations monthly
·         Ensure that parent-teacher conferences are conducted twice a year and assist teachers in both preparation and conducting these conferences, as needed.
·         Provide training, support and follow up to program staff regarding the National Reporting System, Creative Curriculum, Portfolio, ESI-R screenings, Ages and Stages Social Emotional Questionnaire and Parent Techer Conferences
·         Participate in recruitment of teaching staff for the Pre-K Program as needed
·         Ensure that each newly hired teacher and Assistant Teacher has an effective orientation to Christopher House, the 3-5 program objectives and to the specific job responsibilities of their position
·         Identify opportunities for skills and knowledge enhancement for the staff to Site Director, manage training for the Pre-K staff
·         Actively participate in the performance management process for Pre-K and preschool staff

Qualifications:

·         Strong alignment with Christopher House’s Values and Mission; 
·         Strong work ethic coupled with a proactive problem-solving approach;
·         Three to five years of direct experience working with 3-5 year old’s, preferably in a Head Start or governmentally funded child care program; Supervisory experience is required
·         Bi-lingual skills in a variety of languages are a plus

Education:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development and a Type 04 Certification from the State of Illinois
