This position is responsible for all maintenance operations at the Harbor Light Center assuring all maintenance tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner that complies with fire, safety and building code.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The boiler and overall heating system is maintained and building temperature is regulated.
- Painting, carpentry, electrical and plumbing tasks are completed as assigned.
- Preventative maintenance is completed on all electrical and mechanical equipment according to schedule with log books kept for all equipment on a daily basis.
- Work orders are completed in a timely fashion.
- Assistance is provided with snow removal when necessary.
- Maintenance supplies are ordered in timely manner.
- Setup/tear down is provided for special events. Assistance is provided on other facility projects as assigned.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Three plus years of experience with carpentry and painting, boiler maintenance and repair, and plumbing repair including faucet and fixture installation.
COMPENTENCIES
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid Illinois Drivers license with a clean driving record is required.
- Good attention to detail and an awareness of surroundings to maximize safety and resources in a fast pace environment.
- Knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing and other maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of tools, equipment and supplies used in janitorial and maintenance work.
- Knowledge of fire, safety and building codes for the City of Chicago.
- Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self starter.
- A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in light of changing job situations/priorities.
