Under the supervision
of the Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent performs the work of repairing and
general maintenance work. Assists in maintaining facilities, buildings,
grounds, and equipment at various sites; to include electrical, carpentry,
plumbing, masonry, and painting tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Perform
pick-ups and deliveries as requested.
2. Performs
painting, carpentry, plumbing, and drywall patching as assigned.
3. Performs
custodial work throughout the various sites.
4. Manages
grounds keeping duties at all times such as snow shoveling in winter and leaf
raking in fall.
5.Perform
janitorial services in facilities as assigned.
6. Keep all
working areas clean and clear of debris.
7. Driving of
agency vehicles.
8. Notify
supervisor of any dangerous and/or suspicious areas or situations in buildings.
9. Attend and
participate in staff team meetings and in agency meetings.
10. Perform
other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A. High School
diploma or its equivalence is preferred or related field from a regionally
accredited educational institution which has U.S. Department of Education
approval, preferred.
B. HVAC
certificate is preferred.
C. Must have
knowledge of building materials, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and masonry
trades.
D. Must have the
ability to use various power and hand tools very efficiently and actively.
E. Possesses
physical strength necessary to lift and move heavy equipment.
F. Possesses
familiarity with the function and makeup of HVAC systems.
G. Demonstrates familiarity
with site safety precautions.
H. Demonstrates
ability to operate mechanical and landscaping equipment.
I. Must be
willing to work flexible hours.
J. Bilingual
(Spanish/English) preferred.
K. Possession of
a valid Illinois Driver’s License (truck preferred) and willingness to use
personal vehicle during course of employment.
