Job Summary:
The Research Assistant is responsible
for assisting the Study Coordinator in study activities such as recruiting, collecting
cognitive and physical measures with project participants to achieve study
goals. Exemplifies
the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies
and procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
1.
Recruit and scheduling of subjects, including explaining the goals
of the study, obtaining informed consent, data collection and arranging for the
evaluation of study participants while adhering to the required research
protocol.
2.
Administers cognitive tests, questionnaires and collects physical
data in participant’s homes.
3.
Enters data electronically, edits form which includes checking
data for completeness and accuracy.
4.
Adheres to the rigid study protocols to ensure quality data and
outcomes.
5.
Maintains confidentiality of our participants and follows IRB and
HIPAA guidelines.
6.
Follow up by phone, email, and mail with study participants.
7.
Troubleshoots field issues when necessary.
Required Job Qualifications:
·
High School degree with customer service or some work experience
servicing or encountering people/public.
·
Goal oriented and self-directed.
·
Excellent verbal and written communication in both Spanish and
English.
·
Strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact with a diverse
group of people including busy working adults, elderly, family members,
caregiver and staff.
·
Good organizational skills, attention to detail and
troubleshooting ability.
·
Must be able to prioritize and make sound decisions in and out of
the field.
·
Computer proficiency, laptop/tablet usage and other equipment in the
field and in office.
·
Ability to work effectively with co-workers and independently.
·
Ability to navigate sensitive topics and maintain confidentiality
of participants.
·
Availability to work evenings and weekends if necessary.
·
Off-site travel within and around the metropolitan Chicago area
required.
·
Access to personal vehicle to accommodate travel needs.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
·
Some college or Bachelor's Degree.
·
Previous experience in health services, home care, case working in
home, research and/or working with the elderly population a plus.
·
Phlebotomy skills to conduct in-home specimen collection during
weekday hours.
·
Previous recruitment experience a plus.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift and carry equipment necessary to conduct
interviews outside the office.
Competencies:
Ability to certify in all trained study measures and
knowledge retained evidenced by correct administration and completeness of all
study components.
Re-certification annually.
