Doula- Children's Home & Aid- Carpentersville, IL

The Doula works with young mothers to support early and strong parent-child attachment, maternal and infant health, and the development of parenting skills. From the third trimester of pregnancy through labor and postpartum, the Doula provides home visits, group services, and referrals to help the mother build the foundation for the child’s health and development, future relationships, and eventual success in school. The Doula serves clients in Kane County.

Doula responsibilities include:

  • Provide birth assistance, education, and physical and emotional training during the third trimester, labor, and postpartum
  • Create goal plans and work with family to help them reach goals
  • Conduct home visits, group services, and parent education
  • Connect families to resources, screening, and assessments
  • Work closely with community committees
  • Maintain on-call availability to respond to births within 60 minutes, including after hours

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social service related field.
  • Experience working with children and families preferred
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation are required
  • Willing to attend agency-paid DONA Doula training
