What you will be doing…
Under the general supervision of the Site Manager,
the ECE Teacher is responsible for contributing to the development and
implementation of an education plan that is designed to meet the needs of each
individual child enrolled in the program in accordance with Head Start Program
Performance Standards and NAEYC Standards and State Pre-K (CPS-Preventive
Initiative Center Base Program).
Responsibilities:
·
With the
classroom team, ensure the implementation of the preschool program ensuring
adherence to funding requirements as set by Head Start Program Performance
Standards, NAEYC (National Education for the Education of Young Children)
Standards and other licensing requirements.
·
Create and
maintain a safe environment which promotes the safety, trust, respect and
security for children, staff and parents.
·
Provides an
overall classroom environment that is reflective of multi-ethnic populations,
is conducive to enjoyment, relaxation and socialization and has well defined
interest areas. Shares responsibility for room arrangements and clean-up after
daily classroom activities.
·
Promotes
recognition, acceptance and positive interactions among children and among
staff.
·
With the
classroom team, plans, prepares and implements developmentally appropriate
child initiated and teacher directed activities for individuals, small and
large groups of children.
·
With the
classroom team, supervises all of the children’s activities, modeling respect
and acceptance of each child as an individual.
·
With the
classroom team, identifies children who may need specialized services.
·
Observe and
report children’s health, development, and behavior to the team teacher and
experts.
·
Ensure soiled
diaper/clothing is changed throughout the day and as needed.
·
Completes
observations, anecdotal notes, screenings, Teaching Strategies GOLD checkpoints,
home visits and parent teacher conferences as required.
·
Attends weekly
team meetings to complete lesson plans,
discuss children’s progress and individual needs, discuss check points, parent
teacher conferences, home visits etc.
·
Establish and
maintain positive, effective working relationships with parents. Is available
for formal and informal conferences on a daily basis. Participates in monthly
parent meetings and activities.
·
Collaborate with
other staff, volunteers, and/or neighborhood organizations with on-going
program implementation and in developing special events.
MUST HAVE
·
BA
in Early Childhood Education required
·
Must
demonstrate basic reading, writing, and communication skills at a level
consistent with entry in college training programs.
·
Two
to five years’ experience in teaching toddler children and working with parents
·
Bilingual
(English/Spanish) preferred.
·
First
Aid/CPR certificate compliance or completion within first year of employment
·
Flexible
in work schedule

Living Accommodations Living quarters vary from home to home.

Staffing Patterns As a Family Teacher, you will have the

Regardless of your assignment, you will occasionally be required to work and spend the night in homes

Church Attendance Our children attend church services at our House of God. If on duty on Sundays,

Family Teachers scheduling is as follows:
