Financial Aid Technical Specialist- Moody Bible Institute

The Financial Aid Technical Specialist position is responsible for providing technical support to the Financial Aid Office to maintain enrollment and compliance.

Essential Functions

  • Execute computer processes associated with disbursement of financial aid funds in coordination with Student Accounts.
  • Serve as back-up for annual PeopleSoft set-up, recurring Job Sets for the regular, automated execution for essential system processes.
  • Create communication using 3Cs to better serve students and ensure compliance for Direct Loan communications.
  • Provide research support on compliance related questions
  • Authorize payments of Financial Aid awards to students
  • Reconcile credit balance before sending/approving for refunds
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of federal, state and institutional regulations and policies
  • Provides support for PeopleSoft functions for the Financial Aid Office on a daily basis including running processes and initiating student communications from the system.
  • Assist with system setups as needed
  • Devise and modify procedures in response to queries from Director of Financial Aid or Assistant Director of Financial Aid.
  • Write and generate queries within Campus Solutions.
  • Research, evaluate, reconcile and process student aid information and financial adjustments.
  • Develop recommendations for system process improvements and design alternatives for enhancements.
  • Attend conferences sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education and PeopleSoft to update skills and knowledge
  • Assist in collecting, editing and organizing information required for preparation of manuals, guides, reports and other deliverables.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software (especially Excel) and enterprise systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of information systems concepts, practices & procedures.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and analytic skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to a student-centered, collaborative philosophy.
  • Authorized to work in the US, legally without sponsorship

Preferred Requirements

  • PeopleSoft /Campus Solutions experience     
  • 2 Years of Financial Aid Experience.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

This is a year round full-time position: Monday through Friday

Travel is expected in order to attend trainings once or twice a year.
