Financial Aid Counselor- Moody Bible Institute

The Financial Aid Counselor’s primary objective to be responsive to students, parents and other key constituents in order to provide a high level of customer service in helping families navigate the various financial aid processes, while ensuring accurate and timely processing in a way that meets federal guidelines. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Counsels and advises students and families regarding all facets of the financial aid process, including financial aid eligibility for federal and institutional financial aid and the associated application processes. Maintains a thorough understanding of need analysis and student financial aid eligibility. Completes review for verification processing. Awards institutional scholarships and private loans. Evaluates unusual circumstance documentation or information provided by the student to determine if all documentation has been collected for review by the Director. Assists in the processing of federal documents for C code resolutions, SAP appeals and scholarship appeals. Supports all day to day operations of the financial aid office. Attends ongoing training to maintain relevant knowledge of all federal regulatory requirements affection constituents. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Experience in the administration of financial aid, preferably in a private college setting (Other relevant experience will be considered). Experience with Microsoft Office software (especially Excel) and enterprise systems. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to a student-centered, collaborative philosophy. Ability to interpret, apply and explain policies, procedures and regulations regarding financial programs. Excellent written communication skills. Able to multi-task, prioritize and manage time efficiently. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This is a full-time position: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Travel is expected in order to attend trainings once or twice a year.
