Autism Support Professional- El Valor

 JOB SUMMARY

The ASP will ensure adults with autism spectrum disorders within the Organization’s residential or day program services receive continuous active treatment and structured behavior management in accordance with their Individual Support Plans (ISPs). Additionally, the ASP will assure the well-being of program participants through assisting towards achieving personal goals, assuring the environments are clean and free from safety hazards, redirecting maladaptive behaviors and documenting any incidents that may arise. The ASP will also coordinate and assist program participants during community outings and special events.

 QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalency required;
  • One to two years of prior experience with the Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) population preferred;
  • Completion of a DSP certification training program preferred but not required (training may be provided);
  • Passion and commitment working with adult with intellectual and developmental disabilities;
  • Must be at least 18 years old;
  • Must pass a reading comprehension test and pre-employment background check screening requirements;
  • Successful completion of First Aid/CPR certification required within four months of hire or current certification;
  • Complete Medication Administration training courses within four months of hire;
  • Current, valid Illinois driver’s license and proof of insurance required;
  • Reliable means of transportation required;
  • Fluent verbal and written English and Spanish communication preferred;
  • May be required to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds;
  • May be required to lift and transfer individuals when necessary.
