Project Employment and Training-(Bilingual-Spanish) (Seasonal through 12/2020) - Family Focus

 Family Focus, a leader in the field of family support, seeks qualified candidates for the full time

(seasonal) Project Lead position. Family Focus provides comprehensive resources and support programs

for families with young children, and at-risk youth at multiple community-based centers in Chicago and

Chicago land area. Founded in 1976 by early childhood professionals, Family Focus Nuestra Familia

The Illinois Welcoming Center (IWC) is a comprehensive service center for the integration of immigrants

and refugees in Illinois. The IWC innovative model eliminates systemic barriers that immigrants may

have in approaching state services. The IWC provides immigrant and refugee individuals and families

with an array of service, information, programs, and classes to assist in their path towards successful

integration to the state and therefore, creating self-sustaining and thriving communities.

Position Description

The Project lead will provide intake, assessment, and case management services to

individuals/families that enroll in the employment and training project. Project lead will

support individuals and families through training, and support in accessing skills and

employment.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement employment services including: 1) Employment and training services; 2) Life

skills/literacy services, and; 3) Referrals for Employment and Training and Life Skills/Literacy

provided by an employment agency, non-profit or government partner, community college or

Workforce Center.

• Support participants to job employment placement and enrolling individuals in an

educational program.

• Provide the following life Skills/literacy services which can include computer skills, resume

assistance, career readiness and career orientation, ESL classes and other soft skills needed

to prepare for employment.

• Recruit, identify and enroll participants in employment and training and life skills/literacy

projects.

• Determine eligibility, including: 1) Households impacted by COVID-19 AND 2) Households

ineligible for federal stimulus checks and unemployment benefits that have not received

housing funds from other city, state and federal programs funded by the CARES Act, 3) Low-

income, limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals that have not received housing funds from

other city, state and federal programs funded by the CARES Act.

• Hire community navigators to conduct outreach, gather documentation and assist individuals

health navigator programs.

• Identify activities that promote understanding and prevention of COVID-19

• Perform case management home visits and follow-ups as needed.

• Locate, identify and utilize partner agencies, social services and resources for families.

• Collaborate with local social service agencies in order to coordinate services for participants.

• Present case material and request information from other center staff.

• Maintain the highest level of participant confidentiality.

• Attend required meetings, including but not limited to, weekly intake meetings, participant

staffings, team meetings, program meetings and supervision.

• Prepare and submit documentation and reports.

• Maintain participant records in accordance to professional standards, project, and funding

source requirements.

• Develop and maintain required records, reports and statistical data.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of three years’ experience in the social work or related social

services field.

• Prior family support or case management experience.

• Perform tasks and responsibilities utilizing the Principles of Family Support Practice.

• Experience working in a community-based/social services setting.

• Prior knowledge and experience working in diverse community.

• Has a deep cultural understanding of the immigrant and refugee community in the greater

Chicago area.

• Must be able to write, speak, facilitate, and translate in both English and Spanish.

• Flexible schedule including some weekends and evenings (required).

• This position requires some travel. Car is essential.
