Community Engagement, Racial Equity, and Strategic
Initiatives Division

The Department of Housing is seeking students who want to acquire knowledge
and valuable work experience in public sector/city government operations while
assisting with various duties in the Office of Community Engagement, Racial
Equity, and Strategic Initiatives. The Office of Community Engagement, Racial
Equity, and Strategic Initiatives is responsible for guiding department-wide racial
equity assessments and planning, leading community-led housing plans, and
implementing strategic initiatives. As an intern, you will gain a unique insight into
how government can develop processes to gain public feedback, and implement
policy using a racial equity and climate resilient lens. The ideal student is highly
motivated and dedicated to improving public service while obtaining “hands-on
work experience in a fast-paced environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a current student in good academic
standing, enrolled in an accredited college or university offering an
associate, baccalaureate, or graduate degree program or an accredited
professional degree program. Must have a minimum cumulative grade
point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale or a 3.5 on a 5.0 grading
scale.
NOTE: A cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale or a 3.5 on a 5.0
grading scale must be maintained throughout the duration of
internship/employment if hired.
PREFERENCE: Students who are majoring in Urban Planning, Public Policy, Public
Administration, Business Administration, Sociology, Social Work, Real Estate,
Finance, or other related fields are encouraged to apply.
NOTE: Intern will report primarily to the Deputy Managing Commissioner of the Office of
Community Engagement, Racial Equity, and Strategic Initiatives, Sendy Soto, and may
also be assigned duties by Office of Community Engagement, Racial Equity, and Strategic
Initiatives staff.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: Not required
SALARY: Unpaid – may be used to obtain academic credit.
These are temporary positions.
HOURS: 21hrs/wk minimum. Hours are flexible to meet the needs of the student
and the department.

DUTIES: Assigned duties are specific to current operational needs. Perform
various administrative functions to support program activities; compile
stakeholder list, identify grant opportunities for community organizations, support
housing outreach, support logistics of racial equity policy planning. Duties may

documents, create spreadsheets and maintain databases; provide general
information, maintain records and prepare work activity reports; perform various
office clerical functions; participate in the organization, set-up and administration
of special events and program activities; and perform related duties as required.

Assistant Teacher Part Time - Truman College
Truman College is expanding our Child Development Center and seeks a part-time Assistant
Teacher. Under the supervision of the Teacher, the Assistant Teacher provides instructional, clerical and
non-instructional support in the Child Development Center classroom, in order to implement a
developmentally appropriate curriculum that is aligned with the educational and philosophical goals of
the program. Perform related duties as required.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Adheres to the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Code of Ethical
Conduct, demonstrating a professional attitude and work ethic, and respect for children,
families, and colleagues.
• Provides a safe, healthy environment for children, with a focus on classroom health, hygiene,
nutrition, and safety. This includes maintaining a clean and orderly environment for the
children; ensuring children attend a personal hygiene/hand washing; teaching children about
health and nutrition; reporting accidents, injuries, and illnesses to parents and supervisors.
• Assists the teacher in the development and implementation of an environment and curriculum
that provides for a variety of developmentally appropriate activities to promote children’s
development in the areas of language and literacy, cognition, social-emotional well-being and
physical health. This should be done with consideration of the center’s goals, educational
philosophy and general curriculum plans.
• Assists in the maintenance of required paperwork, logs and records, as well as documentation
to assess individual children and the class as a whole.
• Ensures children’s safety through constant supervision, storage of dangerous materials,
arrangement and maintenance of classroom and equipment.
• Works with other teaching staff to provide a nurturing, stimulating, non-punitive, and culturally
sensitive environment that encourage language, self-expression, exploration, creativity,
imaginative play, thinking skills, and the development of positive relationships.
• Ensures parents are greeted warmly and receive information about their child’s experience at
the center through daily contact, scheduled conferences, and written documentation as
required.
• Participates in any quality enhancement initiatives that the center may undertake.
• Participates in staff meetings, planning, and professional development and shares information
gained from coursework or attendance at professional development workshops and
conferences.
• Adheres to requirements put forth by funding, licensing, and accreditation agencies.
• Performs other duties as required and maintains classroom atmosphere and requirement in the
absence of the regular teacher.
Qualifications
• Associate’s Degree from and accredited college or university in Child Development, Early
Childhood or a related field, perfer at least one (1) year of experience with infants and toddlers
or preschoolers is required.
• Illinois Gateways to Opportunity ECE or Infant Toddler Credential, Level 3.
• Must have and maintain a warm, supportive attitude towards children.
• Must be flexible in receiving assignments and adapting to changes in the program.
• Must be willing to accept supervision and continue professional development in the field in
order to improve work performance.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with children, parents, and other staff members,
as well as for documenting children’s growth and learning.
• Should be able to assist in the creation and implementation of developmentally appropriate
lessons, interact positively with children and other staff, and understand and attend to the
physical, social, cognitive, and emotional needs of the children.
• Must be able to work well within a culturally diverse environment with the ability to handle all
situations with tact and diplomacy.

The
Multicultural Financial Services Intern (MMFSI) primarily focuses on helping
“The Team” [CBSI Lead Financial Advisors (LFAs), Associate Financial Advisors
(AFAs) and support staff] as they work with diverse credit union members to
assess and meet the core financial needs of growth, income, protection and
legacy. As a member of a financial advisor team, MFSIs will assist, as
needed, Coordinators and Sales Assistants with the various administrative and
member service tasks needed to smoothly run a financial services practice. Alignment with credit union and CBSI mission
& culture will also be very important for success. The MFSI position
is designed to allow high potential candidates to learn more about the
brokerage/insurance/investment advice/banking business and assess whether a
career in any of these industries is worth exploring. Based on performance and
opportunity, there is potential for career advancement to include that of AFA
or Sales Assistant within a financial services program.
As an intern, the CBSI leadership team and LFA will work with you to give you
exposure and opportunities that align with your personal development
goals and interests. This internship position is designed to
provide hands-on experience to acquire knowledge of financial advising
practices. Candidates will have the opportunity to apply what they have learned
in a classroom environment while gaining new skills in a dynamic professional

Job
Responsibilities:
- Working alongside
members of the financial services Team (LFA/AFA), develop an understanding
of credit union member’s financial and personal goals and understand the
importance of putting the member’s needs first.
- Assist the Team as they
meet and profile prospective clients, review investment goals, prepare
presentations, recommend investment products, follow up on client
contacts, and help customers meet their needs through the sale of
investment and securities products.
- Assist the Team to
prepare for these meetings by compiling meeting materials, generating
investment holding reports, assist in the preparation of needs assessments
and product recommendations.
- Build strong
relationships with credit union staff as well as members within the credit
union,
- Assist the
financial services team with the delivery---virtually and in-person-of
branch seminars and ensure appropriate follow-up from these events.
- Assist as needed in
the execution of local marketing development plan.
- Assist Sales
Assistants in their duties as they relate to the servicing of
member/client needs, including administrative task include contact members
to confirm appointments and seminar reservations, track referrals, help
coordinate credit union staff training, take and direct member calls as
needed.

for data security and privacy.

Requirements:
- Enrollment in
